"Therapy gives us a chance to catch our breath and take our bearings - together"
To be sure – we all want happiness, health and relationship fulfillment.
The nature and complexity of life, however, would seem to guarantee that we meet and find our way through various challenges intoned with loss, anxiety, stress, disappointment, sadness, confusion, change, insecurity and relationship difficulties.
Naturally, when our experiences in life are very full or distressing, it can be difficult to identify and make sense of what it is that needs our attention and care.
Even if we do have some sense of what aspects of our experience are calling for our attention, we may feel that our usual ways of meeting and managing what is coming-up for us isn’t bringing the relief or movement we seek.
This can leave us feeling stuck, exacerbate our distress, undermine our sense of confidence and even begin to negatively impact other areas of our lives. Not surprisingly, our focus on the so called “problem areas” at such times can blind us to our invaluable strengths and well-being.
Acknowledging our need for support and understanding is an important step on the path to increased well-being.
